Giant Water Heater Gas Valve Recall

Properties with a Giant brand gas water heater installed may have an Emerson brand gas control that is part of a safety recall program. The recalled products may pose a carbon monoxide leak hazard. Notice of this recall is posted on Health Canada’s website, reference ID RA-76399.

If you have received a Recall Notice from Enercare, follow the instructions below to find out if your water heater is affected.

Step 1: Find the gas control valve on your water heater. This is a black box located on the front of the water heater (see Figure 1A).

Step 2: Locate the model number and data code. A white label on the right side of the gas control valve (see Figure 1B) contains the model number and date code information (see Figure 2).
