What it covers

• Qualifying cold-climate air-source heat-pump installations in existing residential properties.

How much you could receive

• $2,000 rebate for a centrally ducted cold-climate air-source heat pump
• $1,500 rebate for a ductless cold-climate air-source heat pump

Good to know

• The heat pump must supplement an electric-resistance or natural-gas heating system, although homeowners converting from propane or fuel oil may also be eligible.
• New homes are not eligible.
• Seasonal residences are not eligible.
• The heat pump cannot replace an existing heat-pump system.
• The contractor must be registered with Efficiency Manitoba.
• After the qualifying system has been installed and paid for, the contractor submits the rebate application.
• The application must be submitted within 90 days of installation.
• A post-installation verification may be required.

Manitoba Hydro Home Energy Efficiency Loan*

What it covers

• The Manitoba Hydro Home Energy Efficiency Loan provides financing for qualifying energy-efficiency improvements.
• Approved financing is repaid through monthly payments added to the customer’s energy bill. No down payment is required, and Manitoba Hydro pays the contractor directly.

Financing Details

• Annual interest rate: 6.20% O.A.C. for the first five years
• Monthly payments: Added to the Manitoba Hydro energy bill
• Down payment: None required

How much you could receive

• Ground-source heat pump: Up to $20,000 with terms up to 15 years
• Cold-climate air-source heat pump: Up to $10,000 with terms up to 15 years
• Conventional air-source heat pump: Up to $5,000 with terms up to five years
• Natural-gas furnace or boiler: Up to $7,500 with terms up to 15 years
• Space-heating equipment: Up to $7,500 with terms up to five years
• Water-heating equipment: Up to $7,500 with terms up to five years
• Central air conditioning: Up to $5,000 with terms up to five years
• Electrical-equipment upgrades: Up to $5,000 with terms up to five years

Good to know

• Manitoba Hydro must approve the application before work begins or materials are purchased.
• The applicant must own the home where the improvements are being made.
• The applicant must have an active Manitoba Hydro account and receive credit approval.
• The building must be the applicant’s primary residence or the primary residence of the applicant’s tenant.
• Seasonal dwellings, projects already in progress and completed projects are not eligible.
• Equipment and improvements must meet Manitoba Hydro’s requirements.
