British Columbia offers heat pump rebates for homeowners switching to high‑efficiency electric heat pumps. Rebates are funded by the Province of British Columbia (CleanBC).
CleanBC Better Homes – Home Renovation Rebate Program (HRR)*
Standard (non-income-qualified) rebate program
What it covers
- Cold-climate air source heat pumps
How much you could receive
- Up to $4,000 for heat pumps in electrically heated homes
- Up to $2,250 for heat pumps in condo and apartment buildings
- Final rebate amount depends on:
- Existing heating system
- Type of equipment installed
Good to know
- No income requirements — available to most BC homeowners
- You must pay upfront and apply for the rebate after installation
- Applications must typically be submitted within a set timeframe (e.g., within 6 months of installation)
- Installation must be completed by a Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) registered contractor
- While Enercare is not an HPCN registered contractor, all required work will be performed by its subcontractor Pioneer Plumbing and Heating Inc., an HPCN registered contractor.

- Eligible heat pump upgrades, with availability and amounts varying based on income level, existing heating system, equipment type and program requirements
How much you could receive
- Significantly higher rebates, based on income
- Lower-income households may receive the highest rebates, covering a large portion of project costs
- Final rebate amount depends on:
- Household income and size
- Existing heating system
- Type of upgrade and home characteristics

- This program is income-qualified and requires eligibility verification before starting work
- Pre-registration is required — you must receive an eligibility code before installation begins
- Installation must be completed by a Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) registered contractor
- Contractor gets the rebate, you pay the rest
