Tenancy Changes FAQs
- If a tenant moves into the property prior to August 24, 2026, the tenant can still assume the billing responsibility, however landlords are required to set up pre-authorized payments with Enercare.
- Effective August 24, 2026, Enercare charges for products, plan, and services will be billed to the landlord.
- Your landlord can contact Enercare to add you as a service contact to the Enercare account. To add a tenant as a service contact, the landlord must confirm:
- The tenant’s name and contact information
- That the tenant is allowed to request service
- Any limits the landlord wants to place on the tenant’s access
- Request service appointments for equipment covered under the landlord’s Enercare rental agreement.
- Report equipment issues
- Provide access to the home for technicians
- Change billing information
- Approve chargeable work that is not covered unless the landlord has explicitly pre-approved the service contact’s authority to proceed with such chargeable work
- Cancel or modify any Enercare products/services or plans
- We’re making this change to simplify billing and provide a more consistent experience by keeping billing accountability with the property owner. This helps avoid confusion or interruptions when tenants change. Existing tenant billing arrangements will be honoured until the end of their tenancy, but new tenancies will follow the updated approach.
