How does a ductless AC system work?
A ductless air conditioner has two main components:
- An outdoor unit that contains the compressor, condenser coil and fan
- An indoor unit that houses the evaporator coil and blower fan. Indoor units come in many shapes and sizes, including wall-mounted, floor-mounted, and ceiling cassettes.
The two units are connected by a copper conduit that also houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing and a condensate drain. They are wired to your electrical panel like a central AC system, but without the need for ductwork.
