Enercare honoured for HR excellence with the Accompass Award for HR Team of the Year

Clear objectives and a strong development plan guide HR success as organization experiences rapid growth

TORONTO, Sept. 29, 2016 /CNW/ – Enercare Inc. (TSX: ECI) ("Enercare"), one of Canada's largest home and commercial services and energy solutions companies, has been honoured by HRM Canada, a leading human resources publication, with the Accompass Award for HR Team of the Year.

The prize, which is awarded annually to an organization with 500 or more employees in Canada, recognizes Enercare's high performance and focus on talent amid a period of exponential growth of its workforce.

"We are incredibly proud of our HR team's efforts and accomplishments over the past year. As our company expanded rapidly, we made employee engagement a top priority and built a human resources team with the capabilities required to support our growth," said John Macdonald, President and CEO of Enercare. "Enercare's human resources team has implemented an agenda that is well understood and puts people and performance front and centre."

Over the past 24 months, Enercare has grown from 140 employees to more than 3,800 through the acquisition of Direct Energy's Home and Commercial Services division in September 2014, followed by the acquisition of Service Experts, a Dallas, Texas-based home and commercial services provider in May 2016. The acquisition of Service Experts has transformed Enercare into a North American market leader, creating new opportunities for growth and broadening Enercare's scope from Canada to North America.

"Our human resources team has transformed its practices to align with a changing culture and growing business," said Colleen Bailey Moffitt, Chief Human Resources Officer for Enercare. "We are committed to driving cultural change, highlighting accountability, performance and engagement as Enercare continues to evolve."

Amid the changes in the organization, Enercare's HR team focused on a comprehensive talent program, directly linked to the strategic plan. The multi-pronged talent approach included fully understanding each of Enercare's business units and corporate groups, reviewing each unit's strategy and capabilities, developing bespoke talent plans and defining metrics for success.

"Through our plan, we are better able to identify talent among individuals within all areas of the organization and develop leaders for the future," said Bailey Moffitt.
