Smarter Home – How to manage videos saved to the cloud

With Smarter Home Live Video, you no longer need to wonder what’s going on while you’re away. Check-in at home with live streaming video from anywhere in the world using your smartphone, tablet, or computer. You can view the inside and outside of your home from the same screen and view multiple locations at once, which comes in handy if you have a vacation home. 

Customize your video settings to capture only the things you care about, record clips during certain hours of the day or use geo-fencing to record footage while you’re away from home. Every clip is saved to the cloud, where you have an available storage of 1000 videos. When you have used 100% of your storage allowance, the oldest clip will be removed to make room for new clips as they come in.

To view your upload limit: 

  1. Log into the Enercare Smarter Home Portal.
  2. Click on the arrow at the top right of the ‘Live Video’ card. 
  3. At the top of the page, click ‘Saved Video Clips’ to access your saved clips stored on the cloud. 
  4. A pop-up page will appear with details about your current saved video usage. Our notifications will let you know when you have reached 50% and 90% of your upload limit.

 

How to download videos from the cloud:

When you have used 100% of the allocated storage limit of 1000 video clips, the oldest unprotected clip will be removed to make room for new clips as they come in. Not to worry, you can choose to download as many video clips as you would like on to your hard drive.

  1. Log into the Enercare Smarter Home Portal.
  2. From the dashboard, click on the arrow at the top right of the ‘Live Video’ card. 
  3. At the top of the page, select ‘Saved Video Clips’ to access the clips stored on the cloud. 
  4. From the list of saved videos, select the video you wish to download and click ‘Select’.
  5. At the top of the page, select the download icon.
  6. A pop-up page will appear with download options. You can choose to save the video in three available formats: Windows Video File (AVI), Mac Video File (MOV) or Mobile Video File (MP4). Select the format you wish to save your file as and click ‘Save’. 
  7.  Your video will begin to download and will be saved on to your hard drive for you to easily access. You can download as many video clips as you’d like onto your hard drive.

 

How to delete videos from the cloud:

  1. Log into the Enercare Smarter Home Portal.
  2. From the dashboard, click on the arrow at the top right of the ‘Live Video’ card. 
  3. At the top of the page, select ‘Saved Video Clips’ to access the clips stored on the cloud.
  4. From the displayed list of saved videos, select the video you wish to delete and click ‘Select’. You can select multiple video clips at a time.
  5. At the top of the page, select the trash can icon.
  6. A pop-up page will appear, asking you to confirm the selected clip you wish to delete. Click ‘Delete Clips’ to confirm.

 

How to protect video clips from being written over in the cloud:

Once you have reached your video storage limit of 1000 on the cloud, any additional clip saved to the cloud will remove the oldest unprotected clip to make room for the new clip. If you do not wish to download the data on to your hard drive, you will lose the video content as it gets replaced. Another option is to ‘protect’ certain clips to ensure they will not be deleted when you go over your allotted limit. 

  1. Log into the Enercare Smarter Home Portal
  2. Click the arrow at the top right of the ‘Live Video’ card. 
  3. At the top of the page, select ‘Saved Video Clips’ to access the clips stored on the cloud. 
  4. From the list of saved videos, select the video you wish to protect and click ‘Select’. You can select multiple video clips at a time. 
  5. At the top of the page, select the lock icon.
  6. The selected clip is now protected and will not be deleted when another clip is saved on the cloud. 
  7. To better organize saved clips, you can choose to rename the file by selecting the pencil icon. 
  8. In the space provided, enter the new description and click ‘Save’. Your new video description will be displayed under ‘Saved Video Clips’.
